HOW TO CREATE
A WEB HOME PAGE THAT MAKES YOU MONEY!
By Dr. Jeffrey Lant
Foolishly, the vast majority of website
owners are treating
their websites as electronic bulletin boards, nothing more.
They're simply POSTING information, not doing what's necessary
to create a cash machine. This is a very, very serious error.
Hence this report.
What A Web Home Page Is Supposed To Accomplish
If you're going to create the right Web home page, you've got
to understand what it's supposed to accomplish.
Is the objective merely to post some information,
hope that someone, sometime drops by to see it, and, one hopes,
respond to it?
Or is the objective to use the Web home page as a pivital part
of a sales MACHINE, to get the most people to visit it...
to capture the greatest number of these people on your various
e-mail subscription lists... and to actively work with these people
to sell them the benefits you've got so
they purchase your products and services?
Put this way it's obvious, isn't it?
The people who are making money on the Internet are those who
have created a CASH MACHINE, who understand the role in that
machine the Web home page plays, and who have done EVERYTHING
to maximize the prospect capturing aspect of that home page so
that they have more and more willing prospects
to follow up and profit from!
Increasing Traffic To Your Site
Before you create your home page, you've got to think seriously
about how you're going to get traffic to it. Remember, logically
traffic generation precedes traffic capture. In this connection,
I heartily recommend traffic "plug-ins". These are software tools
which motivate people worldwide to visit your site so you can capture
their e-mail information. These software tools are called "plug-ins" because
once they're
installed and entered into search engines, they work tirelessly,
24 hours a day, 365 days a year AUTOMATICALLY generating traffic.
Importantly, when people come to your website they want to find these
"plug-ins" easily and fast. Thus, list them on the home page like this:
FREE Unlimited Greeting Postcards. Whatever the occasion, send your
postcards FREE here!
Never forget anything again, ever! Remind yourself of every
important date in your life. Never have to say "I forgot" --
and go to the dog house -- ever again!
UNLIMITED Free Classified Ads! Promote your products and
services FREE right now -- whatever you're selling!
Check out our FREE magazine. Get business-building tips you
can use right now!**
** (Your magazine can, of course, be about anything you want. But
business-building online publications are always popular.)
What Happens When People Click On These Links
You may be asking yourself what happens when people click on
these links. They're immediately taken to the "plug-in" so they
can get the item promised. This isn't how you profit, however.
You've got to surround that "plug-in" with e-mail subscription
devices like a guest book or a listserver. The point of the "plug-ins"
is to motivate people to come to your site. Once there, you've got to
motivate them to subscribe to your various lists! Thus, every "plug-in"
you have increases the chances your visitor will subscribe to at least
one of your lists.
Capturing The Prospect's E-Mail Information On The
Home Page
I cannot overstress the fact that capturing the e-mail information
for your visitors is your #1 website priority. Why? Because unless you
get that vital information, you have NO WAY to get back in touch with
the prospect. In that unhappy event, you're not in charge of the
marketing game. You have merely provided a place where the prospect
can surf in, sniff around, and depart from. That hardly does you any good!
Hence the need to do what's necessary to capture the prospect's
e-mail information IMMEDIATELY.
At the top right hand corner of your home page, post either a
guest book or listserver to capture the prospect's information.
Remember, "you get benefit now" language. Don't say, "Sign up here
for free information," or "Sign up for a free subscription." That's lame.
Put some sizzle in the offer, thus: "Get a FREE SUBSCRIPTION to our
'Marketing Hot Tips' Newsletter. Packed w/ info you can use right now
to make your business more profitable! $99.95 value FREE right now!"
The first is merely information, and, in the Information Age,
we're all overburdened with information, no matter how important it is.
The second screams "benefits for you!"... and each of us just cannot
get enough benefits!
Note: if you're using a guest book, give the prospect a chance
to tell you things that are important to her (benefits she wants)
so that you can provide her with the necessary follow-up information.
Request
prospect name
company name
address
phone (if you're going to use it)
fax (ditto)
e-mail (mandatory)
Then ask for answers to questions like these
Would you like to stay home and make REAL money on the 'net?
(Allow prospect to answer Yes or No)
Are you interested in making more money monthly w/ e-mail?
Would you like to increase your website traffic now?
Get the idea? Ask questions that relate to the products and
services you're selling. When the prospect says, "Yes," he's
giving you permission to follow up with your client-centered sales
information... that is, to launch the crucial sales sequence!
How many questions should you ask? No more than 6-8. You want
the prospect to take the time to read and answer these important
questions, not skip them because there are too many easily
to attend to.
Stacking Your Home Page With Short, Client-Centered Benefits
Think of your home page as a kind of electronic index composed
of client-centered benefits. Your job is to list the benefits in
priority order, starting with the one producing the most benefit
to you first. Then follow up with additional benefits, also in
priority order.
This is the drill: list the benefits... get the prospect to
click on the benefits she wants... then make sure you know which
benefit the prospect has clicked on, so you can follow up thoroughly,
efficiently, immediately! You want at least one link for each product
and service you're selling. Here are some links I might use:
In the New York Metro Area? Find out how to stay home and make
REAL money on the 'net now! (This provides me with people I can get
information to about our New York Metro Conference.)
Become one very rich Canadian. Click here to find out how.
(This gives me a Canadian prospect for my model web "show home"
Internet cash machine.)
Australian? Turn the Web into your personal cash machine now?
(Provides an Australian prospect for same.)
Build your website traffic now! Find out how!
(Provides prospect for traffic "plug-ins")
Click here! Find out how to make $100,000 a year -- or more!
(Generates model web "show home" prospects.)
*********************************
Several things are going on with these links:
1) They're short, punchy, and always offer a benefit to the prospect.
2) They generate specific prospects interested in specific products and
services you're selling.
3) You can post several links which all relate back to the same product or
service, but get different kinds of people to tell you they're interested
(women, Austalians, Canadians, people interested in making $100,000 a year,
etc)
4) They provide you with a suitable opening for follow up. ("So, you want
to be a rich Canadian! Read this information to find out how...")
IMPORTANT NOTE: There's no rule in the world that says you can only post
one link for each product and service. Your job is to generate prospects.
Different prospects will respond to different links; don't hesitate,
therefore, to post several links which relate to the same product or
service. The Internet is fabulous in getting very specific people to inform
you they're interested in your benefits.
Everything On Your Web Home Page Emphasizes Client-Centered Benefits And
Works To Get The Prospect To Tell You What She's Interested In So You Can
Capture The Vital E-Mail Information And Follow-Up Promptly
A Web home page has one point and one point only: capturing the crucial
e-mail address. When you've got this prospect information, YOU control the
marketing game; when you fail to get it, you're out of luck, forced to play
an entirely passive game that you just can't win.
Thus, when you review your home page, ask yourself if you've really gone
out of your way to make subscribing to your list and/or guestbook just as
easy as possible. Have you stressed the BENEFITS of doing so, or have you
just put forward the features?
Your Web Home Page Feeds You The Steady Stream Of Prospects You Need To Play &
Win The Marketing Game
If you've arranged your home page properly, your traffic "plug-ins" are
getting people to your site 24 hours a day and your listserver and
guestbook are capturing e-mail information and immediately delivering it to
you for immediate follow-up.
The Internet is the fastest-moving marketing game in the world. There is
nothing slow or passive about it. Thus, the minute you've got a prospect's
e-mail address delivered, FOLLOW UP. There is no benefit in waiting, and
every benefit in sending that prospect just the benefit marketing
information she wants now!
Thus, consider everything from your traffic "plug-ins" to your link
language to your attempts to capture the prospect's e-mail address is
taking place for just one reason: to get you as much vital e-mail
information, as many prospects, just as fast as possible.
Play the game this way and you're on your way to turning the Internet into
your personal cash machine. Merely post your information and hope, hope,
hope that a visitor drops by and acts on and you're wearing an electronic
"kick me" sign!
